SENIOR PASTOR
Kirbyjon Caldwell

Social Entrepreneur

Kirbyjon Caldwell, Senior Pastor of the 15,000-member Windsor Village United Methodist Church, is committed to addressing the unmet needs of underserved people with high quality and relevant solutions. That commitment has led to a revitalization effort that is changing the economic landscape of an underserved area in central south.west Houston

The first community development project under Pastor Caldwell’s leadership, the Pyramid Community Development Corporation’s guidance, and the Windsor Church Family’s prayers and support, is The Power Center. Formerly a vacant, asbestos-filled, dilapidated Kmart store, The Power Center opened in 1996 to operate as a one-stop 21st century service delivery model of public and private collaboration and to empower the community spiritually, economically, socially, educationally, culturally, and medically.

The $9 million Power Center provides employment for 230 people, serves more than 11,000 families a month and generates $15 million in economic activity annually. The center includes a Chase Bank branch; medical doctor, optician and pharmacy; Woman, Infants & Children’s program office; hair salon; private school; real estate development offices; entrepreneurial power suites (low-cost office space with shared services) and banquet conference center. The project reportedly inspired President George W. Bush’s faith-based initiative.

The most recent project is a 234-acre, comprehensive, mini, master-planned nonprofit community called Pointe 2.3.4. This history-making project, valued at more than $173 million upon completion, is designed to improve the quality of life for children, youth, and adults for generations to come and includes key elements that help individuals and communities thrive.

THE COMMUNITY INCLUDES:

A sanctuary, prayer institute, amphitheatre, community park; and, tennis center are also planned.

Pointe 2.3.4. will create more than 2,000 construction jobs and more than 400 permanent jobs. The current estimate for economic output and stimulus exceeds $50 million per year.

The Power Center and Pointe 2.3.4. are two projects that are changing lives for the better now and for generations to come. They stand as a testament to God’s faithfulness and an illustration of Philippians 4:13 – the guiding Scripture of Pastor Caldwell and the Windsor Village Kingdombuilders.
